On Saturday, October 6th over 500 guests joined the Tigger House Foundation at Edgewater Beach and Cabana Club for the fourth annual gala. This year's event was "The Hunt on the Beach" and the generosity and support of our guests helped raise over $550,000.
The Stavola family, along with Christian Peter, Tigger’s sponsor, are courageously taking a stand to fight the opioid and heroin epidemic while continuing to honor the memory of Ricky “Tigger” Stavola Jr., who lost his battle with addiction at age 25.
The evening began with presenting an award to the The Tigger Addiction Recovery Program (TARP) at Monmouth Medical Center, which has been a life-saving resource for addicts who are seeking treatment. RWJBarnabas Executive Vice President of Community and Behavioral Health, Ms. Jennifer Velez accepted the honor. With a 96% success rate, the State of New Jersey has expanded the TARP program at 11 additional recovery-support facilities in hospitals throughout the state.
The Stavola family and Christian Peter announced that Tigger House is working towards establishing a comprehensive wellness and recovery facility helping patients in their journey to long-term recovery. This long-term rehabilitation campus will be the new standard of care for addiction treatment.
Our affirmation to fight addiction, spread awareness, and to save lives is only possible with the support of the community. Together we can prevent further tragedy while honoring Tigger and all those who have lost their lives to this horrific epidemic. Through the work of Tigger House, we are seeing that recovery is possible and help in within reach. We thank everyone who sponsored, attended, donated and supported the event for joining the fight to help end heroin and opioid addiction.
